Heathen Confusion: Mounts Ghaybal & Garazaym

What the heathens, Christians and Jews, believe to be the biblical Mount Ghaybal (Ebal) and Mount Garazaym (Gerizim) in our land are the two localities marked X on the map above. Mount Ebal is the northern X and Mount Gerizim is the southern X. The distance between these two mountains, shown by the yellow line connecting them, is about 2.39 miles (3.84 km).

According to Mashah in Thorah 5.27, after our ancestors crossed the Yardan river they were commanded to go stand on these two mountains. The sons of Shamaion, Lo’ay, Ya’ohdah, Yashshachar, Ya’ohsap (two tribes), and Ban-yamayn were to stand on top of Mount Garazaym and the sons of Ra’oban, Gad, Ashar, Zabalon, Dan, and Napathalay were to stand on top of Mount Ghaybal. Thus, seven tribes were to stand on Mount Ghabayl and six on Mount Garazaym: 12 sons of Ya’ohsharal, but 13 tribes total.

An altar made of great whole stones, not dressed by iron tools, was to be erected on Mount Ghaybal. The stones were to be plaistered so that all the words of the Thorah written by Mashah would be copied onto the stones of the altar in clearly distinct and beautiful script, and burnt offerings and peace offerings were to be made upon the altar as the whole nation rejoiced.

The Loaym (Levite) priests were commanded to pronounce a series of curses from where they were standing on top of Mount Garazaym. Their voices were to be loud enough so that ALL THE MEN OF YA’OHSHARAL could hear each curse as it was being uttered by the Loaym and then all of the non-Loaym would respond in unison with the word “aman” after each curse (Thorah 5.27:14).

Now, I lived in Israel not far from these places for years, and I don’t know about you but common sense tells me that there is no way in hell that men standing on top of the northern spot marked X could hear men shouting, even men shouting at the top of their lungs, from the southern spot marked X some 2.39 miles (3.84 km) away, passing Nablus village, so that a call and response ritual could be carried out as the ancient text describes. Look at the map. Look at it again. Now look at it one more time.

What the heathen Christians and Jews imagine happening in Deuteronomy chapter 27 and Joshua chapter 8 is simply an outright absurdity if the mountains they believe to be Ghaybal and Garazaym are the correct mountains. It is fuel for bible critics to trash the book because the scenario they imagine doesn’t make any damn sense on the ground.

Our book is not wrong, its just that the heathens are believing in the wrong locations for Mount Ghaybal and Mount Garazaym, and because of their incorrect beliefs they are making our book look like a stupid fairy tale.

In order for a national call and response ritual to be carried out as the text of Thorah 5.27 describes Mount Ghaybal and Mount Garazaym have to be right next to each other. There cannot be miles between them! They have to be so close that all the men of the entire nation could hear each other from both mountains. How else would the men on Mount Ghaybal know when to utter “aman” along with the whole nation after a curse if they can’t hear the Loaym on Mount Garazaym? Common sense demands that the traditional Christian and Jewish locations for the two biblical mountains are to be rejected.

This confusion could have been avoided by a more careful reading of Josephus. He clearly states that the two mountains in question were very near to one another and that the city of Shacham (Shechem) was next to both of them. This agrees with Judges 9:6-7 which states that Shacham and Mount Garazaym were adjacent. Amorite Yaroshalam (Jerusalem), also called Shalam (Salem), was right next of Shacham according to Thorah 1 (Genesis) 33:18. Garazaym was south and Ghaybal was north. Josephus also writes that the tribes standing on the two mountains were “answering one another alternately” (Jos., Antiq., 4.8.44) which means all the nation involved in the call and response ritual were all within hearing distance, not just close enough to hear noise far away but to hear each of the sentences uttered by the Loaym clearly and distinctly.

So what are the correct locations? The mountain that Christians and Jews are calling Ebal today rises 940 m (3,080 ft). It is the tallest mountain in the promised land after Mount Hermon. Josephus says the tallest mountain in the land after Hermon is Mount Tabor. But the mountain that is now called Mout Tabor by Christians and Jews, i.e. Jabal at-Tur, is not the tallest mountain after Mount Hermon. The so-called Mount Tabor rises only 575 m (1,886 ft). This is an easy fix.

The correction is that so-called Ebal is actually Mount Tabor and the real Mount Ghaybal is modern Jerusalem’s northeastern hill. Mount Garazaym is modern Jerusalem’s southwestern hill. The city of Shacham was located on this hill in the northeastern corner. The Amorite Jerusalem and Shalam (Salem) is modern Jerusalem’s southeastern hill which has been misidentified as the City of Doayd (David). The true location of the City of Doayd is Jebusite Jerusalem in the south of the country which is called Tel Arad today.

I don’t care what critics, or Christians, or Jews, or Samaritans, or Google, or Wikipedia tell you to the contrary. Their maps of our land are an absolute confused and chaotic mess. The mountain that Samaritans are calling “Gerizim” today is because the Romans forced them to relocate to that mountain in the time of Emperor Hadiran, which they then renamed “Gerizim,” when Emperor Hadrian confiscated the area of modern Jerusalem so he could build his city Aelia Capitolina at that location. Hadrian hauled away all of the costly Herodian masonry from southern Jebusite Jerusalem (Tel Arad) destroyed by Titus in 70 CE and re-used these stones in the building of Aelia in the north. Not one Herodian stone was left standing upon another or left behind.

Not to worry. All of the confusion that heathens have created with regards to our land, its precise borders, and the identification of its localities within, is sorted out by the true people who call upon their Rock’s true name.

His name is YA’OH
Always has been. Always will be.
